Empower yourself to reduce your risks from wildfire

Wildfire Readiness exists to support homeowners, communities, businesses and local governments working to reduce risks associated with wildfire. We offer individualized approaches to reflect differences within and between properties and the challenges each face.

Our Story

Wildfire Readiness grew out of experiences working with homeowners and communities facing and dealing with the impacts of wildfire. Through our experiences working on wildfires of all sizes and complexity, we learned that homeowners and communities don’t know what to do to reduce risks or where to start. Quite often that led to doing nothing. From our experiences, doing something is always better and we’ve gone about designing our company around helping you reduce risks associated with wildfires. On your property, in your community, and across the communities in which you live, work, and play.

We’ve grown up in Boulder, Colorado. Boulder and its surrounding communities have one of the highest wildfire risks in the Western United States. In this environment, we’ve worked with over 1000 homeowners and have partnered with the award-winning Wildfire Partners program to do so. We’ve also helped identify and plan risk reduction actives for school districts, HOA’s, and historic preservation groups.

Some of the more harrowing experiences that have informed our approaches and activities has been to listen to the stories of those who have experienced losses during or the impacts of a wildfire. The challenges to a community are numerous and the personal impacts are often unforeseen, but we have come to believe that efforts can be made to reduce these stresses and build supports that are crucial to recovery. In other words, our work is to support building resiliency through proactive risk reduction efforts that also create a better understanding of our relationship with fire.

How You Can Help

Doing something is
better than nothing.

Wildfire mitigation isn’t clear-cutting your forest or living in a cement bunker. Its effectiveness comes from the accumulation of simple actions that are effective in limiting the impacts of a wildfire on your property.

Help those who
help others.

Mitigating your property can help create a safer environment for firefighters to work and help you protect your values-at-risk during a wildfire.

Mitigation isn’t about stopping a fire burning on your property.

It’s about making efforts to control how it burns in order to protect your values-at-risk. Simple vegetation management and home-hardening techniques may make a difference in the type of impacts a wildfire can have.
